This step by step guide is for configuring VLAN interfaces on Microsoft Windows based operating systems. (The images below are taken from a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine)

For the following guide we will use the following data and assume that you are running all commands as the Administrator user:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step-by-step guide<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

How to do it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Open Server Manager<\/strong> by clicking on the Server Manager<\/strong> icon on the task bar.

  2. Click on Local Server<\/strong>.


    <\/li>
  3. Under the properties for the local server, click on the link Disabled<\/strong> next to NIC Teaming<\/strong>.

    <\/li>
  4. Click the Tasks<\/strong> drop down for Teams<\/strong> and select New Team<\/strong>.


    <\/li>
  5. Enter the Team name<\/strong> and check the boxes of the network adapters you want to include in the team. Expand the Additional properties<\/strong>, set Teaming mode<\/strong> to LACP<\/strong> and Load balancing mode<\/strong> to Dynamic<\/strong>.Click OK<\/strong>.<\/li>
  6. The new NIC team is configured.

  7. There should be a new network adapter under Network Connections<\/strong> that represents the new NIC team and can be managed much like any other network adapter. (e.g. You may need to assign an IP to the newly created team interface and is setup as you would configure the IP on any other LAN interface)
